The Officers of this club met with our Madawaska Police Chief, Ron Pelletier this spring. We discussed a few issues. One of the issue of concern to us was the accessibility, from our trails to downtown Madawaska to our restaurants, gas stations and other business. Our club mentioned to Chief Pelletier the possibility of working with us to have a couple of "legal access roads" in town for this purpose. He was very rececptive to the idea but indicated that before we do this, he and the police department would monitor any and all ATVs on town roads for speed and to make sure that all ATVs properly drive on these roads, ie... slow and on the extreme right-hand side of the road. If these rules are being followed to get to our trails and to the downtown area, he indicated that he could live with this without having to draw the lines on having "legal access roads".
Our club supports this suggestion from our Police Chief and thanks him for his cooperation. We need to do our part and observe these rules. All we need are a few violators and this privilege will be lost.
